Avoid UKG if possible. The platform is archaic and not intuitive and their customer support is subpar. That being said, if you absolutely must work with UKG, I highly suggest partnering with Ascend. They made this project go much smoother than if we were to rely on UKG support alone. The Ascend team is knowledgable, friendly, fast and reliable. Can’t recommend them enough.

ATS/Ascend was a true partner to Michelin. Without their partnership, hard work and expertise, we would not have been able to complete this project successfully. Our consultant Alexia was fantastic to work with and made the painful parts of the project easier. Highly recommend her – we are sad to be losing her as our support! Unfortunately due to issues/misunderstandings on the UKG side of things our initial launch date of March 2023 became December 2023. Alexia was able to work with us throughout the elongated implementation; thank goodness otherwise it would have been difficult to start over with someone else.

For customers considering UKG I would recommend partnering with a 3rd party implementer and not utilizing UKG internal project implementation. This caused excessive delays, frustration, and rework. In hindsight I wish we had contracted HRMS directly to implement this product for us.

The implementation guidance that UKG provides was not very helpful, so it was critical to find a partner like HRMS. We really appreciated the hands-on learning and as needed guidance that Crystal provided. And that HRMS was willing and able to met our needs by providing services in that manner.

HRMS Solutions was fantastic to work with and I would absolutely recommend all UKG clients to leverage a consultant in implementing this software. UKG is a great platform but it is very complex and a consultant is a must during implementation to stay on budget and the timeline to implement.

The project consultants weren’t as knowledgeable as I had hoped they would be so I would’ve asked for others who could’ve helped us with best practices sooner in the project so we wouldn’t have ended up with a system that just put our old processes into it.

We strive to follow a process for ensuring that best practices are consistently provided to clients throughout the implementation. Occasionally, this does not always happen due to specific client or consultant circumstances. By having monthly check-in calls with our clients, the HRMS Executive Sponsor can get a sense of how each implementation is going and identify any areas needing attention. When a concern is shared, such as not receiving best practices, it is immediately addressed with the assigned consultant to ensure that the client's needs are being met. Our goal with every customer is that they are getting the most out of their UKG investment, they are pleased with the services we are providing, and ultimately that they are happy with the results. Thank you for your feedback as it helps improve upon our processes and the quality of implementation services we deliver.

If I could do this project over again, I would have asked for more hands on attention during the build. I would have asked for more demo rather than sending issues and receiving a fixed response. I’d like to have seen how things were getting fixed as well.
Another lesson learned is that it is necessary to use a partner when implementing. They are so knowledgeable on the projects and systems.

Our experience with ATS have been extremely positive.
We loved the UKG PRO side of the software, our concerns came from the UKG READY implementation and lack of experienced implementation consultants to work with. UKG was over-budget and the project was late. The project had multiple change orders and the team changed a lot.

The partners Eliza Michalska and Jean Marie Mendy at ATS Consulting are GREAT! They are very knowledgeable and supportive, providing excellent consulting services and developing strong working relationships.
Our experience with the UKG product has been frustrating as the UKG sales team was not transparent about the fact that the new UKG product is actually 2 systems (UltiPro and Kronos) that have challenges between them, rather they sold it as a “truly integrated product” – not as 2 separate systems needing separate configuration that still have issues integrating together. As a result, the system implementation has taken MUCH longer than anticipated, needing more internal resources/time than anticipated.

We were assigned a Partner by the Software vendor. That was not ATS Consulting. The level of expertise and support from that Software vendor was not to our satisfaction. So, we hired ATS Consulting (upon the recommendation of one of my close business friends) and we have made great strides to accomplish the project tasks and nearing the end of the project (Live date-1/1/2023) . ATS Consulting came in with great consultants and has saved the day. We are very satisfied with ATS Consultants’ service and support.
Lessons Learned:
– Do due diligence about the project partner assigned by Software vendor before accepting their service
– Make sure that the project team assigned has the required experience to handle the conversion of the business needs
– Do a Complete analysis before any configuration
– Have Subject Matter Experts assigned and identify responsible SMEs for each domain to implement (this should be responsibility of Partner to maintain)
– lay down easy steps in the beginning before speeding up the project. This will help to keep client team focused and engaged
– Make sure the partner understands that the success of the project is not dependent on client only
– Partner should be proactive to lend support and not be reactive

I highly recommend using a partner in your implementation, the goal of UKG to get you implemented is slightly different than ensuring your business is trained/educated and ready for a new system.
I also highly recognize going through a blue printing process with the consultant prior to implementation with a partner so you can discuss any changes required from current state to future state and be prepared prior to the beginning of the implementation.

I would have liked to know that the implementation was of the product would require a number of different project teams and that neither team has knowledge or understanding of the product as a whole. They are only experts in their functional area, which is problematic when the customer is trying to understand the flow of information and how one area works with another. Unfortunately, not even our assigned project manager has knowledge of the various areas of the complete system we purchased.

The merger between Ultipro and Kronos is still very new. There is a lot to learn internally about the two projects, which often felt like the left hand not knowing what the right was doing. This led to a lot of bumps on the road.
If you’re planning to implement Workforce Ready and Ultipro at the same time, push to ensure your implementation team has experience working across both.

For Ultimate Software my feedback is that the estimations provided include ONLY configuration for the talent modules. The reality is that the organization implementing has many other items to plan for. But when you engage with the Ultimate Talent team the clock for configuration starts ticking according to their internal KPIs. This was actually something a colleague who implemented had shared and while I tried to stay ahead it still became an issue. This was not true with their CORE implementation team. They were GREAT!
We engaged HRMS Solutions to support the Talent module rollout due to the constraint of capacity on our team and the pace of the Talent consultants. Shadana’s experience, solution oriented approach and flexibility were a huge asset to help us stabilize the work while we continue to transition Core Payroll and benefits to operational support while launching Talent modules. I would rehire HRMS and ask for Shadana in a minute for future projects. The Ultimate team overall was terrific – it was just the Talent module launch team that seemed disjointed.
