Additional costs and time were not the fault of the partner or the software, but more about our readiness for the project, our resources, and how we managed ourselves. It is important to have a dedicated person who is at least 80% dedicated to the project. If not, no amount of meetings, pushing, deadlines, etc. from the partner is going to make up for that.
