We really struggled with our implementation and needed that middle person who knew the questions to ask because UKG did not assist us with best practices.     Ryan recently worked on a project for us setting up our file feeds for dental and vision. We had switched carriers to Mutual of Omaha and needed to set up new file feeds for both dental and vision. Our timeline would be tight and seemed impossible to me. Ryan came in prepared and provided all the information we needed to get the ball rolling with UKG. At every step, he was amazing! He communicated extremely well, informing me of what was needed from me and what he had completed. His emails to the project group were great—making it clear whose help was needed to move the project forward and whether we were on track for our deadline. He was exceptionally thorough—letting me know of discrepancies in our employee data that didn’t make sense and needed to be fixed. Ryan was patient with me and responded quickly to every question I asked with a well-worded explanation that helped me to better understand the process. In the end, the project was implemented extremely fast and I was blown away at how painless the whole thing had been!

     

    Right from the start I was impressed with Ryan, and therefore Sability, and I was never disappointed. Ryan’s work and customer service set the bar high and I will only want to work with Sability (and Ryan!) in the future.

    We have been using UKG for 5 years. We recently implemented a new accounting system and rewrote our chart of accounts. We engaged Sability to help us get the new GL accounts into UKG. Damaris didn’t just add new GL account numbers to our existing UKG setup. She stepped back, and made suggestions to revamp, clean up and make our GL setup cleaner and more efficient. I highly recommend Sability and Damaris to anyone who is implementing UKG or needs to enhance their UKG setup.

    We partnered with Sability to help us set up our HRIS platform for 2023 Open Enrollment and to train 2 HR staff members on the Open Enrollment process. Our goal was to learn how to configure the system and to manage all steps of future Open Enrollments. We slightly under estimated the time it would take for my team to learn, as they were first time/new UKG users. The project was a huge success and was an extremely valuable use of time and resources. Carolyn was a great teacher, and she was amazing to work with.

    The entire process working with both UKG and their recommended partner, Sability was pleasant and professional. Starting with UKG’s sales executive, Ms. Penny Triplett, to Sability’s Team Lead, Mr. Sanjeev Anand, to Sability’s Integration Consultant, Mr. Bob DeCesenzo, the entire experience was fantastic. We needed to integrate our UKG instance with a new resume system we were building, and Penny quickly hooked us up Sability who quickly got us a quote and started working. The integration was flawless.

    We’ve been working with Sability on multiple things for almost 6 months. Everyone on their team is a superstar! There are no words to explain how much they know about UKG Pro!

    We do not have a dedicated “HRIS” person on our team, which is a bummer. Especially when you want to have a system produce all that it can for company, but there isn’t anyone that can dedicate themselves full-time to learning ALL there is to know about the system. Anyway, Sability has not only helped, they’ve taught, AND opened our eyes to alternative ways of doing things…which is AWESOME!! :o)

    This project was to create a flat 3000 report from UKG to our outside insurance vendor. The insurance vendor made the project cumbersome and were very unhelpful throughout. If it weren’t for Sability, in particular, David Stone, I would have cried and walked away. David was extremely professional at every turn and with every obstacle the insurance vendor threw at us, of which there were many. The project was finished and is up and running. This never would have been completed with out him.

    Never move from one software system to another without the support and guidance from Sability. Years ago we did not have a partner when transitioned from one software system to another. Not knowing what to expect, we were disappointed with the process, basically lost and end result was not what was what we were promised during the initial introduction. We didn’t have anyone to support us or be in our corner. Training was not very helpful and changing over was so frustrating. This experience was 100 times better. JoEllen is so knowledgeable with the system we are leaving as well as the one we are moving into. She understands what we were used to and how to better understand the new system and she works with us to ensure we are comfortable in operating in the new system, not just taking our word for it, she requires we take part in working sessions. We will have no excuse in being unable to navigating in the new software program. She holds the software company accountable in addressing issues and for making sure the system operates as promised. Her communication style is confident, positive, encouraging and very professional. During our initial kickoff meeting, she started off making us feel we had made the best decision in partnering with her and her team.

    Every time I need them they are there to talk through the needs, understand the end result and provide best practice advice along the way.
    In these cases Christine Richards has provided a lot of knowledge around building our coefficient ot functionality including helping me make sure we are in compliance with federal and state regulations
    Susan Finley helped with an urgent BI need and though she gave me a reasonable 2-week estimate, she really did it in a couple of days
    Stacey Wolf has helped me with UTM questions and programming when it came to attendance points, setting us up for more automation around pto requests, etc.

    Start early on the Discovery process because you may need to re-engineer some processes to take advantage of the software. If you have complex requirements, it will be well worth it to have an external implementer walk you through the process (the upfront costs may be higher but will save lots of time and money in the long run).

    This is not something you can just shoe-horn in. You must incorporate significant change management and alter the expectations of some with process change. A project like this will challenge the consistency of this activity in your company and the sooner you can get everyone on the same page with how timekeeping will work, the more successful the project.

    Bill Buttrill is very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Even though he was brought in to work on a project that coincided with the upgrade of our time clocks, he was instrumental in keeping that project on track as well as the project he was working on. I can’t say enough about Bill’s level of professionalism and the amount of help and guidance he offered not only to our team but also to our software provider support staff. Bill is truly a valuable asset to the Sability team and I’m so thankful he landed on our project team. I’m not so sure we would be finished with it yet if he hadn’t been onboard.

    Keep your internal SME’s focused and complete the task outlined by the consulting partner before each follow-up conference call. Our team, with Sability’s help, implemented Recruiting and Onboarding in 10 weeks, while performing our daily job duties.

    Sability’s responsiveness and attention to customers needs has been very consistent and reassuring through out our project life cycle. As a Project Manager is it nice to know that you have a partner like Sability who you can count on to deliver.     At Raven Intelligence, we see the good, bad and sometimes ugly results of digital transformation projects through our customer reviews.  Close to 50% of Enterprise Software projects fail outright or fail to deliver the results anticipated. In some cases, customers unfortunately report their projects have taken them steps backward — hardly the outcome anticipated when developing their plans and securing budgets. Yet others, even when implementing the exact same software, have been successful in transforming their businesses and employee experience through improving processes and technology.

    Why such variability in results?  We’ve found less depends on the technology, and more hinges on an organization’s readiness, team and partner that is chosen to help lead the effort.

    Tool to Help Assess Readiness for Change

    Human Capital Management (HCM) consulting partner, Sability, knows these patterns all too well, having 15-plus years of experience implementing UKG software for thousands of organizations. To help customers identify and gauge their change aptitude, they have built an assessment tool which in minutes helps customers identify potential risk factors.

    “We’ve seen recurring themes in organizational readiness that can be very telling.  If customers are honest with themselves and can get some key areas prepared ahead of time, their project will have a much higher probability to be successful,” says GeGe Tallerico, Customer Success & Senior HCM Consultant.

    The free 14-question assessment can be completed by any project team member from an executive decision maker to end user and will provide a scored report at the end which can help identify any areas of risk. While Sability specializes in engagements around the UKG Human Resources and Time & Labor Management software, the assessment is relevant for any HCM software.

    The tool covers (5) major fundamental areas, and provides a custom score (out of a possible 100 points) which includes:

    Stakeholder Support.  Every project should have an active Project Sponsor/ Executive that is a strong champion and other senior Stakeholders who understand and support the project plan and goals.

    Project Management.  A Project Manager should be selected who is sufficiently skilled and capable of managing a project of this size, complexity and the resources involved.

    Project Team.  Project Team Members must be selected.  They and their managers should be aware of the time commitments required, and they must have the available time and skills to participate effectively.

    Change Management & Communications.  A cohesive Change Management and Communications plan should be developed and executed throughout the project.

    Project Planning & Preparation.  The scope of the project must be documented and agreed among all parties.  The order of events, planned effort and timeframes of major project tasks should be documented and reasonable.

    What Next?

    After taking the assessment, customers will likely have questions about their scores, which Sability can help answer.

    What happens if a customer scores lower than they thought they would?  Does that mean a customer has to scrap their plans for their project?

    Not necessarily. What this assessment shows is where the risks potentially are. It allows a customer the ability to bridge the gaps ahead of time, and in some cases using a partner like Sability if they find they don’t have the resources internally to manage a project like this.
