Dedicated, in person responsiveness is always more valuable than virtual. If there was a way to have every consultant come to the office with the people working the project it would absolutely improve the value of the services.
Also, while it’s difficult for consultants to know about their clients’ businesses in detail, it is also very helpful to have the consultant learn the details of the business and our processes (even if we don’t have one), our culture, etc. and actually “do” the work side by side — that is the formula for success at all times.
