What “Lessons Learned” would you provide to others implementing with this partner / software? What else would you tell us about your project experience?
* we started this project as a general “clean up the tickets” project. We have a small HRIS team and had built up a large ticket backlog over the summer and fall. So, for starters, do NOT let your tickets pile up.
* once we got the ticket squashing process going, we discovered (via good discover by CloudSmart HR) that some of our “tickets” were actually pretty sizable projects that were going to need to be done separately. Big bummer here as we were not ready for that…but we needed it.
* testing is a lot more than you think. You team (especially if they are small) have a lot on their plate daily, so to think they are going to “test like crazy” is not practical. That was the hardest part.

We thought we needed to totally rebuilt our job and grade profiles…but Cloudsmart helped us to see a way to salvage most of the existing work and simplified the project quite a bit. It certainly made the whole thing much faster than we anticipated…and saved us a ton in testing.

1) we thought we had the whole project figured out and scoped and only needed a consultant to come in and do the work. boy were we wrong.
2) always ask experienced consultants …and the CloudSmarHr team was… for their feedback/opinions because we learned more about our software asking them questions than we thought.
3) you also need to be careful of over delivery…features you do not really need. but if someone on your team says “this feature is must-have”…they made it happen. i guess ‘planning’ is needed here.

Our consultant was very experienced in the module we implemented. They were able to help us understand the questions we needed to ask to get the best outcome, and then walked us through the various options. They had a good saying “There are 3 ways to do everything in Workday. Our job is to figure out which one works best for you.” It was very true. My “lesson”…let them “consult”…they are very good at getting to the right solution

Requirements and project management are are often seen as “easy”…but we tired to skimp on them and it hurt the project overall. Project costs and delivery timeline went up as a result.
