    During our recent data implementation process, we gained a valuable lesson.
    The significance of data collation, its validity, and cleanliness cannot be understated when embarking on such endeavours.

    We encountered several challenges that could have been mitigated had we prioritised these aspects from the outset. It became evident that many processes, previously manual, would have greatly benefited from thorough mapping before initiating the implementation phase.

    One of the main shortcomings was not fully comprehending the transition from the existing process in the “old world” to the expected outcome in the “new world.” This gap in understanding led to confusion and inefficiencies during the transition. We realised that mapping out these processes beforehand could have clearly highlighted potential issues, allowing us to address them proactively.

    The takeaway is clear: ensuring data accuracy, validity, and cleanliness lays a robust foundation for a successful implementation. Moreover, meticulously mapping out existing and future processes will aid in identifying areas that require special attention. This approach enhances the likelihood of a smoother transition and a more effective implementation.

    Have an experienced project manager (internally) to ensure the progress, do a deep dive in to your needs and wants in a new system/module and use this as the building blocks for assessing the vendors and systems/modules. Ask a lot of questions and use the experience/competencies of the consultant. Do a thorough TEST of the system during SIT and UAT phase of the project!
